Nkonya Wurupong Traditional Area — August 2026

Distinguished Ambassador of Traditional Medicine, Okogyeabibiduro Nana Kwadwo Obiri, has presented his Distinguished Ambassador Award and Citation Pledge to the President of the Nkonya Wurupong Traditional Council, as part of the customary rites and traditional blessings of the chiefs and people of the Nkonya Wurupong Traditional Area.

The presentation formed part of a special traditional ceremony honouring the achievements and contributions of Obiri to the development of traditional medicine and the advancement of the Nkonya Wurupong Traditional Area. At the ceremony, Oponkpon Nana Kwadwo Assiakwa II, President of the Nkonya Wurupong Traditional Council, expressed his profound gratitude to the ancestors and the Almighty God for the honour bestowed upon one of his hardworking subjects.

He commended Okogyeabibiduro Nana Kwadwo Obiri for his dedication, leadership and commitment to the development of Nkonya Wurupong and traditional medicine.

According to Oponkpon Nana Kwadwo Assiakwa II, the achievements of Nana Obiri are only the beginning of greater things to come.

“I thank our ancestors and the Almighty God for the honour done to our hardworking son. We believe there is more to come his way because Okogyeabibiduro Nana Kwadwo Obiri is a devoted leader, and the hard work he is doing for the development of Nkonya Wurupong will earn him even greater recognition.”

He further declared that the ancestors of Nkonya would not forsake Nana Obiri but would continue to guide, protect and strengthen him as he carries the name and heritage of Nkonya to greater heights.

The traditional leader expressed confidence that Nana Obiri's continued leadership and service would help raise the flag of Nkonya Wurupong high, both nationally and beyond.

The ceremony was attended by Queen Mothers, Chiefs, family members and other distinguished members of the Nkonya Wurupong Traditional Area, who joined in the traditional blessings and celebration.

The presentation of the award and citation pledge was therefore not only a recognition of Nana Obiri's personal achievements but also a demonstration of the strong bond between the distinguished traditional medicine advocate and his ancestral home.

As a Distinguished Ambassador of Traditional Medicine, Okogyeabibiduro Nana Kwadwo Obiri continues to champion the promotion, preservation and development of Ghana's rich traditional medicine heritage while contributing to the socio-economic and cultural development of his people.
